Sugar cake / sponge cake (my translation)

What you will need:

·      Cooking fat and some breadcrumbs to the form  

·      Two eggs

·      Two decilitre of sugar

·      Three decilitre of flour

·      One and a half teaspoon of baking powder

·      A half teaspoon of vanilla sugar

·      50 grams of butter

·      One decilitre of milk

Serve with some fresh berries.

Method:

1.     Preheat the oven to 175 degrees Celsius, grease and sprinkle the crumbs in the form.

2.     Whisk eggs and sugar until its white and puffy. Blend flour, baking powder and vanilla sugar together in a separate bowl.

3.     Melt the butter and pour in the milk, so it becomes lukewarm. Pour in the milk mixture in the sugar mixture and blend it together. Blend in the flour mixture in the batter, and pour it in the form.

4.      Bake the cake in the oven 25-30 minutes.

Ingredients (English/American recipe)

Sponge cake

·      Butter and breadcrumbs for mould

·      3 eggs

·      300 g (1 1/3 Cups) of caster (superfine) sugar

·      2 tsp of Vanilla sugar

·      160 g (1 1/4 cups) of plain (all purpose) flour

·      2 tsp of baking powder

·      75 g (1/3 cup) of butter

·      100 ml water (1/2 cup, less than 1 tablespoon

Method:

1.     Preheat the over to 175 degrees Celsius

2.     Thoroughly grease a 1½ litre sockerkaka mould and sprinkle with breadcrumbs.

3.     Beat the eggs and sugars with an electric whisk until pale and fluffy.

4.     Sieve the flour and baking powder into a bowl and then carefully fold into the mixture.

5.     Melt the butter and then add the water. Bring to a boil and then add to the mixture, beating on the lowest setting until evenly mixed.

6.     Pour the mixture into the mould and then bake at the bottom of the oven for 35-40 minutes, until the top is golden and the mixture begins to pull away from the mould.

7.     Leave to cool for 2-3 minutes and then invert on to a serving plate.

8.     When completely cold remove the mould.

Differences

The biggest difference between the two recipes is that the Swedish one contains Swedish Measuring cups, and the English recipe contains English ones. I also think that the English recipe is more detailed than the Swedish recipe.

Saker jag förstod:

Tyngd: Jag förstod lätt ur man visste vad saker vägde i Newton, och jag hade någorlunda koll på det redan innan.

Gravitationskraft/tyngdkraft: Hade jag också koll på innan och jag tyckte även att det var förklarat bra i videon.

Jag förstod vad friktionskraft var och hur den påverkar föremåls förflyttning.

Saker jag hade svårt att förstå:

This is England

This is England

This is England, is a British drama movie. It was produced 2006, written and directed by Shane Meadows. The movie is about a small boy named Shaun, in 1983, when Margaret Thatcher was prime minister, and the Falklands war took place.

Shaun lives in a small town in England with is mother. His father died in the war and Shaun was a bullying victim, because of his old clothes. One day on his way home from school, Shaun bumped in to a skinhead gang, who treated him well. In the lead of the gang was Woody. For the gang, everything is about the ska- culture, music, Dr martens shoes and jeans. Their lives are all about having fun.

When Woody’s old friend Combo gets out of prison, forced the group to split in two pieces. Combo is a National front activist, and Shaun decides to join his group.

I think the reason he joined Combos group was because of that Combo told him that he didn’t want more people to die for nothing, as his father did.

 Combo doesn’t want more “pakis” to enter England, for example because he thinks that the unemployment problems in England is already to big, and he don’t want the “pakis” to steal works from the English unemployed.

This is England is dedicated to Shaun, or Thomas Turgooses real mother, Sharon Turgoose, who died in lung cancer 29^th of December 2005, just months after the recording of the movie was done.  

This is England review

The movie This is England gives everyone who watched the movie a real insight in the English culture during those years. Its very reality likely and well made. But I don’t know if I liked the movie as a movie I would watch a Friday night in my sofa. I would prefer to watch this movie when I want to learn more about England, for example in school.

 In the movie is it a lot of profanity and it’s a very bad language, but I think it explains much of the culture they live in, but I think the bad language occurs to often. It’s very exhausting after awhile, when you just hear the bad words. I think the movie was hard to understand sometimes.

This is England is a unique movie and describes England’s bad and good sides.

Inlägg 5: Författarporträtt

Stephanie Perkins föddes 24 november 1981 i South Carolina, men växte upp i Arizona. Hon har gått på olika universitet i Kalifornien och Georgia. Sedan 2004 har hon bott i North Carolina med sin man Jarrod Perkins. Hon har alltid jobbat med böcker. Först som säljare i en bokhandel, sedan som bibliotekarie och sedan som författare.

Hon har skrivit många bästsäljande böcker, bland annat Lola och pojken i huset bredvid och Anna och den franska kyssen. Hon har vunnit två pris för Lola och pojken i huset bredvid, båda 2012.

Boken som hon debuterade med, Anna och den franska kyssen blev en bästsäljande tonårsbok, och när hon sedan släppte sin andra bok, som då är Lola och pojken i huset bredvid, blev det åter igen en succé.

Båda böckerna jag läst som skrivits av henne är skrivna i samma ”värld” där karaktärer från andra böcker jag läst finns med på något sätt i bakgrunden. Det sägs att även boken som jag inte läs än, Isla and the happily ever after även den är skriven i samma värld. Vad jag förstår ska den var den sista delen som utspelas i samma värld. Jag tycker att hennes böcker, eller de jag läst är extremt bra, och unika. Hon beskriver omgivningarna i böckerna väldigt bra, och det gör att man vill vandra i karaktärernas fotspår. Det märks att Stephanie lägger ned väldigt mycket tänkande på sina böcker, vilket jag gillar.
